The Scholarship Committee of CDTOA met in early June to review the Freshman Applications and what a wonderful group of applicants we had.

We realize the hardships facing so many in our industry today, and it is for this reason we increased the number of scholarships that were awarded. Awards were given in the names of Walt and Janice Dobbs, Terra Trucking, AADT (American Alliance Drug Testing) and CDTOA.
It was just recently disclosed to many members on the new scholarship committee that Fred and Cathy ReCupido, owners of Terra Trucking, that they have been donating at least $1,000 to the scholarship fund for the last 10 years, so we all agreed that they at least deserved a named scholarship.

This of course all ties into our scholarship outreach to larger industry carriers to also participate like the ReCupido family, and in return, we would name a scholarship after their company.

Also a big “Thank You” to our chapters who recently contributed to the Scholarship Fund, which helped to make this years scholarship “giving” possible. We are currently discussing other fundraising options and will announce our final decision at the Board meeting in Ontario in late July. Our goal is to help as many students as possible achieve their college goals.

For our Continuing Students, your deadline is fast approaching and your applications must be postmarked
by July 31.

We will be posting all the scholarships and winners in next month’s magazine.
