Its all to common a scenario,
Your driver notices oil pressure is a little low
and makes a note to check it when hes delivered
the load. Five miles down the road theres
a sudden spike in temperature and before he can
shut it down there are two connecting rods hanging
out the side of what was a perfectly good motor
two days ago. Another truck is dispatched to transfer
the load and a wrecker is hired to haul in the
hurt truck, your mechanic gives you the bad news
and when you return to the office theres
an envelope from the lab with the analysis of
the oil sample sent in two weeks ago ... high
copper and traces of coolant, in the time it took
to get the results the oil cooler let loose and
a coolant-oil-slurry mixture welded a connecting
rod to the crank ... time for a mainframe.
Oil analysis detects problems far enough ahead
of time to prevent catastrophic failures, but
it is a service often ignored in our industry
for many reasons ... mainly because of the inconvenience
and wait time.
Enter the guys at Western Lubrication who saw
a need for instant results and to take the headaches
out of oil analysis. Using OSA machines installed
in specially customized Dodge sprinters, these
guys are the first people in the world to go where
the service is needed most, your facility. They
pull the samples themselves and test them right
then and there.

Fontana and handles everything south.

We asked Jeff about some of
his clients. The first account we picked
up shortly after getting set up almost a year
ago was Garcia Sand & Gravel trucking Inc.
out of Santa Clarita. I met Bobby Garcia at the
trucking show in Anaheim and he was very interested
in the technology, the first time I tested his
trucks I sat down with his mechanic and went through
the results, High silicon but no bearing wear
... this one got a head gasket a while ago, RIGHT!
Take a look at your intake on this one, Its
got some dirt and a little too much lead tin and
copper ... small crack in an inlet elbow you cant
see but you can feel it if you know what you are
looking for. The only way a guy would find that
problem is through oil analysis ... or when he
tears all that stuff off to rebuild a motor that
would have lasted twice as long with early detection.
Bobby is a smart guy who is trying to up his profit
by being efficient ... glad he found us.
Its not just the smaller companies
that are using us either, I met Bob Beasley whos
in charge of distribution for 7UP bottling company
of northern California and he had me come up and
test the vehicles at one of his facilities and
liked what he saw. Bob is a forward thinking guy
who understands the value of early detection of
problems through analysis and appreciates the
ability we have of taking the load off some very
busy mechanics, they run a LOT of trucks from
long haul to side loaders that do a lot of idling
while making deliveries which puts a lot of soot
in the oil shortening the useful life of it so
we were able to assist in setting oil change intervals
based on the condition of oil rather than time
or mileage schedules. The OSA machine is a highly
sophisticated piece of machinery that can tell
us if the oil should be changed or whether its
good for more miles. Just another way of making
profit for these companies.

Western Lubrication is also
working with used truck dealerships because of
their ability to get the analysis done quickly,
no one wants to lay out a sizable investment for
a truck with a tired engine.
I had a real interesting one a few months
ago, I dropped in to a yard that sold used earth
moving equipment and there was a giant Komatsu
dozer there that someone had made a low ball offer
on because the potential customer had gotten his
own oil sample and claimed the engine was bad,
they had me test it and that machine was in perfect
condition, AND since I can tell approximately
how long the oil has been used I know they hadnt
simply changed the oil ... it was a good machine
they were contemplating taking a loss on because
of some erroneous results.
Western Lubrication also carries a line of Government
patented engine treatments, Jeff says, We
did a lot of research on additives and found something
that really works, theres a lot of snake
oil out there and thats the last thing we
wanted to be associated
with. This is really different

another solvent or thickener,
it is a relatively new technology that the U.S.
government owns the rights to and we have seen
consistent and significant results with our customers.

and a diesel additive.
