This year’s CDTOA Board Meeting met along with the ATHS 25th National show at the California Speedway in Fontana.
The event in many ways was co-hosted by the CDTOA and was actually the main draw for the new equipment vendors - who responded very well to this new event.

CDTOA held its General Board meeting in one of the Speedway’s garage areas on Saturday morning. The meetings where short and efficient, so members could enjoy the many attractions the show offered. After the board meeting let out, many of the Board members came to the booth to help support and assist the staff to man the booth.

At the CDTOA/C-DATA booths, staff and board members helped visitors with questions and sales of shirts, hats and other interesting promotional items.
Even Ralph Woods, our “Travel and Tips” safety advisor helped man the booth. Complimentary water was handed out to our visitors and boy did we have alot of visitors.

Many on the staff had the opportunity to hang out with the EC and talk about non industry related topics.
About 10 CDTOA members throughout the state brought their RV’s and camped out at the Speedway.

On Friday May 28, was CDTOA’s Hospitality dinner. It was filled with good food, drinks and some great prizes.

The Sponsors for this event were, CDTOA’s San Bernardino /Riverside Chapter and High Desert Chapter, Los Angeles Freightliner/Select Trucks and Western Star, Benchmark Tires Inc. and Nextel.

Lots of prizes were given away by these sponsors and the main dishes for that evening were great. We would like to thank Mark Sturdevant for all his help coordinating the catering and the co-hosting of the event.

At about 3 p.m. on Saturday, CDTOA’s very own Transportation Advisor and PAC Chairman, Fred ReCupido got the chance to drive his classic, restored 1955 Chevy pickup on the track. Many of us took alot of photos of his truck as Fred was flying by - 105 mph. Saturday was the last day for the fun filled three day event. Our sales and visits were out standing. Many of our affiliates were there, Like Jay Pocock with Superior Trailers.

I visited many other affiliates like Art and Kim from Dump Truck Parts. Art had his special display showing off the Dump Master valve system.

Jerome Sli, ATHS’s show coordinator got me an opportunity that I will never forget, the chance to drive a class 8 truck on the track. Kurtt International Truck & Trailer Sales had a nice display of trucks and one of their trucks was a 2004 yellow custom built, lifted International with a truck bed. My chance had came. Scott with Kurtt and I were the first in line to drive this great truck.

Well for those of you that did not have the chance to see or attend the show, there is always a next time and to all our sponsors and supporters, on behalf of CDTOA, its members and staff I would like to thank you.

Selec Trucks of Fontana
SelecTrucks of Fontana is a used truck dealership that has been created through a partnership between Freightliner Corporation and Los Angeles Freightliner.

Freightliner Corporation has approximately 24,000 used trucks come into it’s corporate system nationwide and the majority of these trucks are sold through the SelecTrucks system. SelecTruck of Fontana fleet department representatives Mark Sturdevant and Randy Lairmore are responsible for assisting with CDTOA members with their used truck needs.

Mark and Randy have over 40 years of experience specing and selling construction related equipment and will make sure that the truck you buy fits it’s intended application. A typical SelecTruck has gone through a 150 point inspection insuring the used truck is ready to work without worrying about breakdowns. The SelecTrucks reconfigured program has great success in the market with trucks that not only have gone through the inspection program but in many instances have all new rubber, new brakes, drivelines, upholstery rebuilt cabs, and are sold with a 1 year/100,000 mile powertrain warranty.
