Hello, everyone. August went by in a flash! There are many things to talk about, and I will start with the CDTOA Scholarship news. My special thanks goes out to all those who give of their time; this is such a great benefit to CDTOA. In these tough times, members and affiliate members children and grandchildren who are committed to furthering their educations should all benefit – but they have to apply. Again, great job Committee! With the state budget problems putting many public works jobs on hold throughout the state, things are tough and getting worse. Hope all of you are finding work. Our Broker Bill is now sitting on the Governors desk, awaiting his signature. While California is in a financial budget deadlock, we are hoping that the governor won’t vow to not sign any new legislation if it’s not settled. I read President Obama’s next bailout recipient, as of early September is roads and infrastructures. What luck, lets go fix some roads! What? The gas taxes have been raided for social programs and we can’t match federal funding. Oh crap… we are in trouble! My thinking is that we should raid the CARB Building for the cash. Have a Ritchie Bros Auction and reduce CARB’s $850 million budget to $1 – all the savings should get us a mile or two of road work. I hope you have all been reading about the fight we are in with CARB, EPA and especially the corrupt UC school system (Health Science Depts). UCLA’s Dr. Enstrom has made some headway thanks to many of us. UCLA has granted a stay on his firing after he filed a “whistle blower” action against the university. Dr. Enstrom has received some national coverage from the media. But a lot more still needs to be done, so call your legislator, call your TV and radio station, call your local newspaper, and ask them why you have not seen any lead stories on the corruption and junk science at CARB and the firing of James Enstrom at UCLA. The eco-jihadists at CARB, EPA and in the UC system are still not slowing down. The latest is to whitewash the Tran Report, which Mary Nichols, CARB’s Chairperson, claimed her staff would “redo” for industry in February. In a statement to the press last week, she said CARB is NOT redoing the Tran report as was promised publicly many times, and the regulation is going to be implemented as planned. It must be tough as a Board Member to watch as Mary Nichols and her staff feed you lies and deception. I believe that the CARB Board needs to grow some acorns, because she promised them and all of us a full review of the science. But, no, now she says the Tran Report will not be redone, even though it was the basis for these regulations. It’s all a bunch of, yes, bullshit. CARB and their shills within the science community can pull a 9,000-person-a-year premature death rate (relating to PM2.5 diesel exhaust) out of their rear-ends and not have an ounce of solid science to back it up. Show me the death certificates; you know they can’t even measure PM2.5 sources from their own CARB filters all over the state. They have to extrapolate, a scientific term for “a guess” as to what’s collected. What a bunch of BS!
Mrs. Nichols, I can show you the factual number of lost CDTOA members whose livelihoods you and your eco-defenders have killed, whose families you have financially dismembered. There’s an enormous lack of balance in government and especially CARB, and it is totally unacceptable. Things like this push people to the point of revolution! To our members and friends, remember the next election is near: November 2. We need to rethink things like the size of our government today. Things are very out-of-wack; if there was ever a time to vote, it is this November. Vote for fiscal responsibility, vote for accountability, anything supported by any government agency should be a warning and a NO vote. Our fight with CARB is a reflection of government gone bad, agencies that may have had good intentions at one time going horribly wrong. Instead of a finite goal, the agency self-promotes and propagandizes as the only group that can understand what we need. They are wrong, dead wrong! Today we see out-of-control budgets and zero accountability, and all these things are related to dysfunctional politics and science. Their scientific propaganda is only used when it can achieve their goals, and if the science is not aligned with the activism, then they terminate and shut out scientists for their objectivity. We have some huge problems in academics today, make no mistake about that. Our wacky attorney general, Jerry Brown, has refused to investigate CARB’s Hien Tran’s academic corruption, the Mary Nichols cover-up, and even the incestuous relationships between CARB, UCLA, and Mr. Grants himself, J. Froines, and others like him—can you say Samet? Remember, KILL CARB! Rob
