The measure would suspend air pollution control laws until unemployment rates drop.
Opponents of prop 23 don't think this error will have much of an impact on voters' views on the measure. But Friday night the County Election's Chief admits it was an oversight on Friday. Fresno County Elections Chief, Victor Salazar, admitted his office made an error when it sent out tens of thousands of ballots with some incorrect language to describe proposition 23.

The ballot states the measure would suspend laws requiring "major polluters" to report and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Because of a judge's decision back in early August, the term "polluters" was supposed to be removed from the ballot label and replaced with the words "major sources of emissions."
That change was made to the Spanish-language ballots in Fresno County, but not the English versions.

Manuel Cunha, of the Nisei Farmers League, says, “I'm very disappointed. Very disappointed in the spelling errors that are in that section as well as the language that somehow, someway how could be suddenly make that kind of mistake?”

This is the second time Salazar has faced criticism in recent weeks.
Some have voiced concerns over the decision to cut the number of county polling sites for the general election from about four hundred down to two hundred.Salazar says his department has faced deep cuts in recent years, losing one-third of his staff in the past five budget cycles.

Victor Salazar, from the Fresno Co. Registrar of Voters, says, “One was a mistake. One wasn't. One was intentional as a result of budgetary reductions. The other was an oversight.”

Salazar's office plans to place signs with the correct language at each of the twenty early voting sites open Saturday and all polling locations open on Tuesday.
