Robert (Bob) Hribar (October 11, 1930 – February 10, 2011) Bob was born in Racine, Wisc., the 11th of 12 children. At the age of 17 he started his trucking career which would span over the course over 50 years. In 1962, he moved his trucking company to Norco, California along with his brothers, Emil and Lester. He had a very creative and innovative mind. When it came to trucking and contracting he was a pioneer in the rock business. He introduced the first pup trailers to California which was a design he helped to develop, and later designed and manufactured end dump trailers. In 1965 he entered the contracting business, and for 18 years he and his company drilled, blasted and placed the rock along the Colorado River banks from Bullhead City to the Mexican border, for the Bureau of Reclamation jobs. He was also a man of his word with a solid work ethnic and sense of pride. He lived by his words, “Can’t doesn’t exist in my vocabulary” and “You give an honest days work for an honest days pay.” He was always willing to give a helping hand and aided many truckers to get their start in the business. He liked to see everyone succeed. As an employer he stood by his father’s philosophy, that “if you can’t pay a man an honest wage then you have no right to have created that job in the first place”. Family meant everything to him. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he will be deeply missed by his wife of nearly 60 years, Arlene, son Robert Hribar (Sandra) and daughters Bonnie Cool (William), Connie King (John), Lonnie Johnson (Steven), Lori Gerhart (Todd), as well as 15 grandchildren and 2 great granddaughters. Bob was a member of CDTOA since 1986 and was featured in the May 1992 issue of the CTN. He believed in what CDTOA does for the industry and felt anyone that is not a member is taking a free ride. His daughter, Lonnie Johnson was the former Operations Director for AADT and her husband Steve is also a CDTOA member since 1986.

Janice Lee Dobbs
Janice Dobbs of Camarillo, California, passed away at age 75 on Wednesday, December 29, 2010. She was born December 24, 1935 in San Pedro, California to Bernard M. & Cora E. Hartman. Janice married Walter Dobbs on April 11, 1958 in Pasadena, CA.
Janice was, as she put it, a Navy brat. They lived in many locations from coast to coast. She graduated from Monrovia High School in June 1954.
She went to work at General Telephone Co. as a Customer Service Representative in Covina, California. Some thirty-three years later, she retired as an Accounting Administrator.
One of Janice’s favorite activities was to paint and fire ceramic green ware, which allowed her to express her artistic talents. She also enjoyed sketching objects.
She especially enjoyed working with CDTOA’s Scholarship Committee, in which she chaired for several years.
Janice is survived by husband, Walter, of Camarillo, California and her son Martin, his wife Kathleen and 2 grandsons, Nick and Jacob of Adelanto, California, plus her brother Bernard E. Hartman and his fiancée, Marjoree Howard, of El Cajon, California. She was preceded in death by a son Steven and her parents, Bernard M. and Cora Hartman.
In lieu of flowers Walter request donations to be made out to: the National Multiple Sclerosis Society-Channel Islands, 14 W. Valerio Street, Santa Barbara, CA 93101.
Janice will be missed, but her passion and love will live forever.
