The Sacramento and Fairfield Chapters combined this year to host their annual Christmas party. The party was held at the Hayes Antique Truck Museum. Those of you who went to the board meeting in Reno got to see a presentation on the museum. The museum has an extensive collection of antique trucks and farm equipment all beautifully restored. If you haven’t been on a tour, I highly recommend that you contact the museum office in Woodland, CA and arrange for a guided tour. Our tour was very informative thanks to Al Garcia, museum curator, with an extensive knowledge of the museum’s collection. A buffet supper and raffle were held in the museum’s banquet hall. Vendors, affiliates and members donated raffle prizes. Les Schwab Tire of Fairfield (a new affiliate) donated $200.00. Other donations included $500.00 from Western Transportation Insurance, $550.00 from Alan Robison at Network Insurance and $200.00 from Commercial Transportation Insurance. Hunt and Sons Pacific Pride, an affiliate and long time contributor to all of our causes and needs, gave us a check for $200.00 and a case of oil. Dooley Tire, Sacramento Kenworth, and Wesco Trailer Sales in Woodland, Riverview International, Western Truck Parts, S & K Steel, Fleet Pride, Riebes Auto Supply all donated generously to the raffle. Special thanks to all of the members who contributed items to the raffle. A big thanks to AL, our guide, who donated a bicycle he won earlier that morning to our raffle. I can’t speak of generosity without mentioning the members who gave of their time to help make this event a success. Ralph Barlow who always comes through with lots of great stuff and calendars. Rob and Pat McClernon, there wouldn’t be food without you guys. Betty Plowman and Tammy Swafford who decorated the antique dump truck and Christmas tree in addition to acting as masters of ceremonies with me. To those of you who attended, I hope you enjoyed yourselves. To those of you who couldn’t attend, you were missed and there’s always next year. To all, Happy Holidays and a prosperous New Year.
