California Construction Trucking Association (CCTA)

The High Desert Chapter held their annual Christmas Party on December 7th at the Green Tree Inn in Victorville. This is always my favorite time of the year; with so many of us with different busy schedules throughout the year. It’s the only time when we get everyone together and enjoy each other’s company. Again, we had a really great turn out and a great time. The High Desert Chapter is one of the smaller chapter’s in the southern area, but we have one of the most active groups. Of course we couldn’t do it without the support of our affiliates, members and local sponsors, and this is the time of year when we get to give them recognition they deserve!

We’d like to thank Buck, Diane, Tom and Ann from G.A.S Inc. & Goodspeed Distributors for joining us, as well as the pleasure of having Keith and Mary Wixon attend, we miss having Keith at our meetings since his retirement. We had the installation of our new chapter officers; Chairman- Steve Johnson, Directors-Elaine Merrigan and Rick Bowman, and Sec./Treas.- Judy Scott. Also congratulations to Dave Merrigan on his election to the State 2nd So. Vice President, Dave has been the High Desert Chapter Chairman for the past four years, as well as the Chairperson of the Membership Committee at the Board Meetings. Dave has always worked hard at promoting our Association.

We would like to express our appreciation to all the sponsors for their continuous support to make our Chapter a success. We had some terrific raffle items donated again. Cash donations, oil changes, filters, fuel, dinner gift certificates from quite a few local restaurants, gift baskets, coolers, briefcases, jackets, shirts, hats, T-shirts, tools, trucking accessories just to name a few items. Our sincere thank you to Service Rock-Victorville, Vulcan Materials-Oro Grande and Highland, Blue Diamond Materials-Victorville, Inland Kenworth Fontana, Arv’s Diesel Fuel System-Fontana, Benchmark Tires- Fontana, Cooley Construction Victorville, G.A.S Inc./Goodspeed Distrubutors-Hesperia, Bob’s Driveline-Victorville, Desert Truck Parts-Hesperia, Red Lobster-Victorville. As well as all our members that generously contributed. The items donated for Hopeline Ministry went towards making 110 baskets for needy families in our area.

A special thanks to the members that helped organize the event; Steve and Lonnie Johnson, Dave and Elaine Merrigan, Bob and Arlene Hribar, Debbie Lewis, Maxine Faler and Darlene Gaylord. Without them, there wouldn’t be a Christmas Party!
Hope to see everyone throughout the year at the various meetings, remember this is our association and it takes everyone’s involvement in some way or another, we a have a challenging legislative year ahead! Have a Safe, Happy, And Healthy New Year!
