Campaign Update June 28, 2010

Yes on 23 = Yes on California Jobs Initiative

The Secretary of State today announced that the California Jobs Initiative
will be Proposition 23 on the November ballot. Which means a Yes Vote on Proposition 23 would:

Save more than one million jobs.

Stop billions in higher energy costs.

Avoid a $500 million water tax.

Stop higher car taxes.


Thanks to all coalition members for joining this important effort to
protect California's economy and jobs.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Environmental Protection Agency on Thursday proposed stricter health standards for smog, replacing a Bush-era limit that ran counter to scientific recommendations.

The new limits -- which are presented as a range -- will likely put hundreds more counties nationwide in violation, a designation that will require them to find additional ways to clamp down on pollution or face government sanctions, most likely the loss of federal highway dollars.

Jan. 1 deadline looms for 1994-03 models

LONG BEACH, Calif. -- The ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach will enter 2010 with more than 6,000 clean-diesel and alternative-fuel vehicles in the harbor trucking fleet as the industry works to comply with the ports’ clean-trucks mandates.

In addition to the 6,000 clean trucks already in service, motor carriers have approximately 1,300 trucks on order and scheduled for delivery soon. The trucks meet or exceed the Environmental Protection Agency’s standards for 2007-model clean-diesel vehicles.

Caltrans confirms number of new but idle vehicles PDF Print E-mail
